According to Fergus Elora Tourism, NBC’s popular mini-series Heroes Reborn will be filming in Fergus next week.
The crew has rented staging locations in town and plans to film filming exterior neighbourhood and downtown shots for one to two months.
This highly-anticipated, 13-episode miniseries reconnects with the basic elements of the show’s first season, where ordinary people wake up to the fact that they have extraordinary abilities.
A filming notice issued by GEP Heroes Reborn Inc. states “the saga behind the 2006 breakout series Heroes will continue as creator Tim Kring returns to the fold and develops new layers to his original superhero concept.”
Original cast member Jack Coleman will reprise his role as HRG.
Shooting next week includes interior and exterior scenes at the Fergus General Store on St. Andrew Street West on April 14 between 7am and 11pm.
During filming there will be intermittent traffic stoppages and crews will be assisted by paid-duty OPP officers. It appears downtown parking will be affected on April 13, 14 and 15. Prior to filming, parking spots are being reserved on the main street starting on April 13 at 7am, with production vehicles arriving that evening around midnight.
Some preparation work will be done on the filming locations between 7am and 8pm. Vehicles will remain parked in the area on the next day. In addition, company vehicles will be on the street from 7am to 8pm for any cleanup work.
Areas impacted include both sides St. Andrew Street West between Tower Street and Provost Lane, St. Patrick Street West (north or south side between Provost Lane and Tower Street), Tower Street North (east or west side between St. Andrew Street and St. Patrick Street West) and certain private parking lots and the parking lot of the Fergus General Store.
Centre Wellington’s tourism and destination coordinator Deb Dalziel said “we are thrilled to host them in Fergus and surrounding area.”
She said “The shoot is next week and they are doing a amount of set staging in the Fergus General Store for the next few weeks as well.”
Dalziel added “Elora Fergus Tourism has had a blast showing the locations crew from GEP Heroes Reborn Inc. haunts to film in and around the neighbourhoods of Fergus including the main street.”
A series of shoots including main street will take place in the coming weeks with the majority of filming done in the near future with return visits to some specific sites, she added.
